Bangkok is loud, busy, and chaotic.. or at least that’s what I thought. Just outside the city is an area known as Bangkok’s Green Lung, Bang Kachao, and it feels nothing like the Bangkok you imagine.
We took a day trip by bike to explore the island, stop at a local Bang Nam Phueng floating market, visit a Siamese fighting fish (betta fish, endemic to Thailand where they were first domesticated at least 1,000 years ago!), and spend time relaxing in the Si Nakhon Khuean Khan Park and Botanical Garden. It’s calm, unexpected, and surprisingly easy to visit from the city.
