When footage of Metal Overlord first came out and his voice was revealed, there were a few people (including myself) who weren't sold on the voice direction that they took with him. It felt too much like a generic monster voice instead of an arrogant doppelganger of Sonic, which made sense since they were both voiced by Ryan Drummond in Sonic Heroes. There was even speculation through Mike Pollock was doing the voice through people removing the filter and hearing a similar voice to his. Turns out it was Ray Chase all along, who has his own filmography of different anime and video games other than Sonic, with this being his first foray in this franchise.

I have since gained a better appreciation on his take on Neo Metal especially with his back and forth with Shadow, but I still feel that he leaned too hard into the monstrous side of the character and not enough of his ties to Sonic. That's why I went through the trouble of doing my own take where I do what Ryan did back in the day and do an Evil Sonic impression as well as putting some filters to go along with it. Of course, it's largely an impression of Roger Craig Smith's Sonic as he is the current VA for him. I hope you enjoy my mod and the voice work that I've done for it.
