Adult Autism Interview 3 Restrictive, Repetitive and Stereotyped Patterns of Interest and Activities

Psychiatrists use the Autism Psychiatric Interview, or their own adaptation of it, as one of the tools to assess an adult who does not have intellectual disabilities for autism spectrum disorder. It is used as a guide. It is also important to find out how the person was when they were younger and how they function in the real world, as opposed to a clinic setting. If people have a more subtle presentation and know a lot about autism, then this interview may be insufficient to diagnose autim, and the person may need a longer interview.
