A very brief visit in the middle of a busy working day. I managed to document several structures including an unlisted HF DF station which looks like a roofless pillbox, and was fitted with a wooden dome containing the df antenna. I then visited what looks like an abandoned guardroom, followed by the Bofors AA guntower and a Heavy Machine Gun type 24 pillbox, and a few anti tank cones that were blocking the other end of the road on the opposite side of the airfield. There are still surviving structures left over from the war, but many have been destroyed by developers over the past few years. In it's heyday during the Battle of Britain, two enemy fighters lost there way and landed here by mistake. One was pulled from his aircraft before he realised what was happening, and the other tried to take off again but crashed into trees at the end of the runway. They both spent a very comfortable war in a british POW camp.
