Who is Mata Chintpurni Devi Ji?

After defeating many ferociuos deamons, Maa Parvati, with Her aides Jaya and Vijaya (also known as Dakini and Varini) went to take a bath in the Mandakini River. Maa Parvati was feeling very happy and a lot of love was welling up inside Her.

Her complexion darkened and the feeling of love completely took over. Her friends on the other hand were hungry and asked Parvati to give them some food. Parvati requested them to wait and said that She would feed them after a while, and began walking.


After a short while, Jaya and Vijaya once again appealed to Maa Parvati, telling Her that She was the Mother of the Universe and they Her children, and asked to be fed quickly. Parvati replied that they should wait until they got home. Both aides could not wait any longer and demanded that their hunger be satisfied immediately.

The compassionate Parvati laughed and with Her finger nail cut Her own head. Immediately, blood spurted in three directions. Jaya and Vijaya drank the blood from two directions and the Goddess herself drank the blood from the third. Since Maa Parvati cut Her own head, She is known as Maa Chinnamastika.

She does that to fulfil the desires of Her children, Her devotees, hence also known as Mata Chintpurni.

माता चिंतपूर्णी देवी जी कौन हैं ?

कई क्रूर दानवों को हराने के बाद, माँ पार्वती, उनकी सहयोगी जया और विजया (जिन्हें डाकिनी और वारिणी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है) के साथ मंदाकिनी नदी में स्नान करने गईं। माँ पार्वती बहुत खुश महसूस कर रही थीं और उनके अंदर बहुत सारा प्यार उमड़ रहा था।

उसका रंग काला पड़ गया और प्यार की भावना पूरी तरह से हावी हो गई। दूसरी ओर उसकी सहेलियाँ भूखी थीं और उन्होंने पार्वती से उन्हें कुछ खाने को देने के लिए कहा। पार्वती ने उनसे प्रतीक्षा करने का अनुरोध किया और कहा कि वह थोड़ी देर बाद उन्हें खिला देंगी और चलने लगीं।


थोड़ी देर के बाद, जया और विजया ने एक बार फिर माँ पार्वती से अपील की, उन्हें बताया कि वह ब्रह्मांड की माता हैं और वे उनके बच्चे हैं, और जल्दी से भोजन करने को कहा। पार्वती ने जवाब दिया कि उन्हें घर पहुंचने तक इंतजार करना चाहिए। दोनों सहयोगी अब और इंतजार नहीं कर सके और मांग की कि उनकी भूख तुरंत शांत की जाए।

करुणामयी पार्वती हंस पड़ीं और अपनी उंगली के नाखून से अपना सिर काट लिया। देखते ही देखते तीन दिशाओं में खून बहने लगा। जया और विजया ने दो दिशाओं से रक्त पिया और देवी ने स्वयं तीसरे से रक्त पिया। चूंकि मां पार्वती ने अपना सिर खुद ही काट लिया था, इसलिए उन्हें मां छिन्नमस्तिका के नाम से जाना जाता है।

वह अपने बच्चों, अपने भक्तों की इच्छाओं को पूरा करने के लिए ऐसा करती हैं, इसलिए उन्हें माता चिंतपूर्णी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
