Noodling for Paddlefish! The Quest for a 100 Pound Fish Continues!! We Try Snagging and Noodling!

Hey whats up everyone! Join Nate, Phierce, River and Dalton as they trek through the river in search of a 100 pound Paddlefish! The goal is to catch a 100 pound Paddlefish or catch 120 Paddlefish total! We aren't leaving until we complete the mission! It is going to be a long day on the river! Hopefully we can get it done before nightfall! We started seeing so many paddlefish that we put the rods down and started noodling or hand fishing for them!! How exciting! It was a blast! Snagging for giant Spoonbill is such a rush! It's super exciting, but man... it is a lot of work! You need heavy gear and a sturdy back to reel in these lunkers! It is a workout all in its own! Your back, arms, and abs always feel it the next day! Some people call these behemoths Oklahoma Marlins because of their likeness to a Swordfish or Marlin! It is an extreme type of fishing! Paddlefish are filter feeders, they only eat microscopic plankton so the only way to fish for them is by snagging. Some people don't think this is very sporting, but it is legal. You are required to use barbless hooks. It is not much different than regular fishing. In regular fishing you try to trick a fish into swallowing or eating a bait with a sharp hook hidden in it, if he is lucky you will set the hook and sink it into his mouth or lips, if he is unlucky and it gets into his throat or gills he is pretty much a goner!! That sounds horrific! People are okay with it because it has been normalized for so long and because it is the most traditional method of fishing. When you snag a fish, it leaves a small piercing puncture on a far less vital part of the fish! They are able to move on about their day and continue feeding as normal. So don't be a hater! This is modern times we are living in.
