The Tunnel of Death, countless more tunnels and hairpin bends, roadside vendors and chaikhonais, picturesque little towns, local cops taking 'donations', slow trucks, impatient drivers, and the spectacular backdrop of the Fann Mountains. Throw in a driver who knows the road, an in-car playlist of Tajik music, and you've got yourself one pretty cool and one very memorable road trip. Cost to do this roughly 6-8 hour trip in a shared taxi: 100 Tajikistani Somoni, or $9.10 USD - a total bargain!
