In this oil painting lesson I show you how to Oil paint a female figure ( The Norwegian singer and song writer Hanne Sørvaag )with a Guitar from rough sketch all the way to the finished oil painting. I show you how to do thick brushwork in a more Impressionist way how to build skin tones from the beginning . I do not use charcoal or do a oil paint block , I start straight on the canvas and from a point I just let it evolve in to a painting. I do start with the face and I also start on a canvas that I have toned with turpentine and raw umber , I do let it dry before painting so the raw umber do not mix with the clear oil colors in the sketching process .In this figure study I play some documentary about famous artists and painter that I find most interesting to learn to paint from . Rembrandt is by far the greatest painter in my view
The painting is done from art photo done with tungsten 6/7 Dias film.
All my paintings is done freehand and with mainly old Holland paint

My Focus as an Artist and painter is the paint itself and the aesthetics that evolves wile I transfer the motif on to the canvas. I am not a conceptual artist and my driving force for doing paintings is the personal challenge painting figurative gives me. As a painter with Artists like Rembrandt Turner Leonardo da Vinci and Jan Vermeer as my objective standard I will always have to push myself to get better In painting is where it get personal for me and where I reflect in results how successfully I have used my time and in the end my short existence in this infinite universe and time.
