The Department of Genetics presents the Gary D. Stormo Symposium on Computational Biology! This event celebrates Dr. Gary D. Stormo and his achievements as a pioneer in computational biology, as well as his legacy as an inspiring mentor and educator. His colleagues, collaborators, and former trainees will speak on Dr. Stormo’s accomplishments in computational biology, current developments in the field, and on the history of the Computational Biology Ph.D. program at Washington University in St. Louis.
About Dr. Jin Billy Li:
Dr. Li is a Professor in the Department of Genetics at Stanford University and a member of Bio-X. He received his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, working in the labs of Susan Dutcher and Gary Stormo. After completing a postdoctoral fellowship with George Church at Harvard University, he joined the faculty at Stanford University. His lab focuses on RNA editing mediated by ADAR enzymes, and its application in gene-editing technologies as treatments for cancer and autoimmune disease. In 2020, Dr. Li received the Chen Award of Excellence from the Human Genome Organization.
