We set up a number of these experimental stations to monitor how rooted versus unrooted cuttings (you'll see me chopping off the roots of some cuttings) survive and grow after planting. We monitor these cuttings with a trail camera to get a handle on how herbivory may impact the success of the restoration. Thus, we also setup rooted and unrooted cuttings in a cage to ensure herbivory exclusion — thus looking at abiotic and biotic factors for establishment.
