Satellite channel surfing Oct 1983

There were at least 12 satellites and I believe 24 video channels on each satellite along with several audio sub-carriers. There was an electric motor armature to manually move the dish to tune into (point at) each satellite. I often would just "surf" the south sky (satellites in an arc above Earth's equator) and would occasionaly pop in a VHS tape and record. On any one day there were at least a dozen movie channels, many many news broacasting from remote locations and events, almost any sport event from any team across all the major sports and most were without commercials. I was amazed and mostly never "blacked out" of a sporting event or concerts sometimes from around the world. I'm just starting to get rid of the many VHS tapes I have and discover stuff all the time. I edited out when switching between satellites because it's just static noisy snow until you can zone in on the next satellite.
