About this video: This video is an in-depth guide on how to make a Fabric modded Minecraft server in 1.21. That includes everything you need to know to get a Fabric Minecraft server including where to download the Fabric server files and even how to add mods to your server once it is setup. Truly, this video covers every single step of making a Fabric Minecraft server in 1.21 and starting to play Fabric mods with your friends!

To get started, we will need to download the Fabric server files. There is a link in the description above to download Fabric 1.21. This is for singleplayer, but it will also get us the server files. However, it is important to note you and your friends will need to install Fabric in order for your friends to join the server. This guide will help them do that!

In the guide, click “Download Fabric” to go to Fabric’s official download page. Here, select to download the installer .jar file. Using this to get the Fabric server files will ensure that our 1.21 Fabric server files will be easy to use once installed.

Now, create a “Fabric 1.21 Modded Server” folder on your desktop.

Open the Fabric 1.21 installer with Java. You will need Java 21 in order to make a modded Minecraft server with Fabric. There is a link in the description above that goes over everything you need to know about getting a Java 21 for modded Minecraft servers.

In the Fabric installer, click on the “Server” tab and choose the Minecraft 1.21 version. Click the thee dots next to the Launcher Location box and find the Fabric Server folder you created on your desktop and select it.

Click the “Install” button, and your Fabric server files will be downloaded. You aren’t don’t just yet though. You will also need to click the “Download server jar” button and the “Generate” button. Once you do that, all of your Fabric server files have been downloaded!

Now, we can actually get your Fabric 1.21 modded server online. There are two primary things to do. First, start the server using the “start.bat” file. Your server will try to start, but it will fail. There will now be an eula.txt file though. Open this and change eula=false to eula=true. Save the files, and you are done!

When you double-click the start.bat file again, your Minecraft Fabric server will start in 1.21. From here, you can add your 1.21 Fabric mods to the mods folder. You can also join the server using the IP address “localhost” just make sure Fabric 1.21 is installed locally with all the mods on the server installed locally as well.

For your friends to join, they will need Fabric and all the mods on their computer. Then, they can join your public IP after you port forward. There is a complete guide on port forwarding in the description above. This guide goes over everything, but the quick version is you will need to forward port 25565 on the TCP and UDP protocols.
