Transforming a Long Wig into a Short Style

Got a long wig that seems beyond saving? Before throwing it away, consider your options!

Retired long wigs can be great for styling practice or repurposed for a new costume. For this demo, we’ll be converting a Le Tigre into a much shorter look.

These tricks are intended for costume wigs; do not attempt them on human hair!

Extra tips: Since styrofoam mannequin heads can be smaller than human head sizes, we recommend trying the wig on first, and marking desired length with a bobby pin or clip for reference before trimming.
If you wish to trim a long wig shorter than a few inches, additional wefts might be needed to minimize gaps.
