After a day's break, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2025 resumes with its 8th match of the season in Karachi. National Stadium hosts the clash between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators on Friday (April 18).
Both teams are right in the middle of the points table, with a win and a loss each.
Quetta Gladiators started with a thumping 80-run win over Peshawar Zalmi, but tasted their own medicine facing Lahore Qalandars and lost the game by 79 runs.
Spinners - Akeal Hosein, Abrar Ahmed, who continued his dream run, and Usman Tariq - tried their best to restrict the Qalandars, but the Shaheen Shah Afridi-led side took the experienced Mohammad Amir, Faheem Ashraf and Shoaib Malik to the cleaners, posting a massive 219/6 in 20 overs.
You need your top order to fire while chasing a huge total, but Quetta lost three wickets for just 9 runs inside 3 overs. Kusal Mendis and Rilee Rossouw tried to rebuild, but they, too, couldn't deal with the rising required run rate. Eventually, the Gladiators were bowled out for just 140, accepting their fate.
On the other hand, the Karachi-based outfit is coming off a 65-run defeat at the hands of Lahore Qalandars after starting their campaign with a four-wicket win over Multan Sultans.
Despite Hasan Ali's heroics with the ball, Karachi Kings failed to resist the Lahore batting line-up. Hasan Ali breathed fire with the new ball and also bowled a good spell in the slog overs, finishing with fabulous figures of 4/28, but didn't get much support from the rest of the bowling attack, as half-centuries from Fakhar Zaman and Daryl Mitchell helped the Qalandars to 201/6 in 20 overs.
