Vince McMahon and Hulk Hogan are two names synonymous with the world of professional wrestling. While it can be argued that neither man would have found success without the other being in their life, it can't be denied that the early global success of the WWF came down to Vince McMahon's vision and Hulk Hogan's star power. Hulkamania ran wild in Vince McMahon's WWF and the both men changed the pro wrestling landscape forever.
In 2003 McMahon decided to book himself in a match against Hogan at WrestleMania XIX. Real life issues between Hogan and McMahon were used to further the narrative of the storyline and match; McMahon felt that he was responsible for creating Hulkamania and he felt betrayed when Hogan left the WWF to work for WCW, and Vince was determined to end Hulkamania forever by beating Hogan at WrestleMania. It was decided that this match would be contested as a street fight, and if Hogan lost he'd have to retire.
