My Payntr X 004 RS review started strong — cushioned tongue, flexible forefoot, wide toe box, and a stable-looking base. But once I started walking the course, things changed fast.
In today’s video, I put the Payntr X 004 RS through a full comfort, traction, and performance test to see whether this $200 spiked shoe holds up to real-world walking conditions. Spoiler: it’s nowhere near the level of the Payntr All Day SC.
With a harsh heel strike, surprising instability around the ankle, pressure along the inner arch, and grip that underperforms despite being spiked, this shoe ends up feeling stiff and fatiguing by the time you’re halfway through a round.
⛳ What I Test in This Video
True comfort vs first-impression comfort
Heel strike harshness on pavement & fairways
Toe-box space vs midfoot squeeze
Traction test (especially vs the All Day SC)
Stability through heel, ankle, and setup
Flexibility vs overall ride stiffness
Lockdown issues and fit struggles
Why comfort declines the longer you walk
⭐ My Verdict
The Payntr X 004 RS starts off feeling fantastic, but the longer you walk, the more flaws reveal themselves:
Harsh landings
Unstable heel
Pointy ankle cushion shape
Rubbing along the arch
Grip that disappoints for a spiked shoe
Comfort: 7.1/10
Performance: 7.3/10
If you’re choosing between the X 004 RS and the All Day SC — it’s not even close.
