Julie and I decided to take a hike and climb Greyhavens Pinnacle, which is in Arizona near the Utah border. It's a short hike with a steep climb and partial scramble up to the top of the towering pinnacle, which looms over I-15. Views from the top are an incredible 360 panorama over the entire Virgin River valley.
We started from the gravel turnout not far off the I-15 exit for the Virgin River Recreation Area. There is a trail here, very clear at the beginning as it leads you up and over the first rise. Along the way, we saw enormous, building-sized boulders just below the pinnacle and a bighorn sheep. The last 75 yards to the top of the peak is more of a climb than a hike. The hike is about 2 miles long with an elevation gain of approximately 500'.
