The so-called English Civil War of the 1640s saw conflict in Wales. Three prominent Welsh rebels from Pembrokeshire switched sides and were sentenced to death. But only one was to be executed; and it was the hand of a small child that sealed his fate.
The men were Rowland Laugharne, John Poyer and Rice Powell. They fought for Parliament, but they felt a betrayal that made them switch to the Royalist cause.
