Secret World Legends — [ 01 ] — The Illusion Unravels

Welcome to my personal playthrough of Secret World Legends, the artist formerly called The Secret World.

As I mentioned in the disclaimer, this playthrough is primarily made for myself as in, this is the kind of videos I enjoy watching because it's how I tend to play games and especially MMO's.
You'll recognize this from my XIV videos and my Dragon's Dogma videos. And if you haven't watched them, what I mean is that I walk everywhere known colloquially as "Slow-walking" in a more derogatory term. If I can't walk in a game it tends to make me really buggered. That doesn't mean I ONLY walk, but having the option I will utilize it a lot.

Likewise I will often observe and look at things up close, in different angles. It may appear that I'm lost at times but I'm not, it's how my brain keeps mapping areas in my head. I make notes of environmental details and mental landmarks, this may make me run the same passage several times and sometimes even by mistake. As you can see in the first part I turn off my Minimap —
— this is intentional. This is how I play MMO's. With a map up at all times, you become over-reliant on it and the world blurrs as you find yourself only staring at the map when you play.

I also have a very peculiar way of HUD Layout and quick buttons, as I like favoring R F T G for quick selection of attacking moves and I prefer a very open, unobtrusive HUD.
This I will tweak until I feel satisfied enough with it because I hate being absolutely blinded by hud elements all over the place, it makes me feel pushed in, claustrophobic.. Like tunnel vision.

My previous experiences of trying to play this game have ended after the Subway.
But this time, since I have a goal, I'll play a lot of further.

Words have Power and Names have meaning.
The real name of my character I went with Sypha Alainn.

Sypha inspired of my favorite Castlevania character, Sypha Belnades.
Alainn is the same as my other re-occurring character, Talamh Alainn.

Sypha is a name with uncertain roots and many different interpretations.
According to GOOGLE AI, Sypha has roots in Hebrew meaning "To be free".
Different users give their own name meanings, but it's most likely closely root is "Secrets".

Alainn should actually be typed as Álainn and means "Beautiful", "Fine" or "Splendid".

When I named her, I believed it to be the former to be frank, so her name in my head meant "Beautiful Freedom", A sort of perhaps ironic or tragic name considering she gets taken by the Illuminati.
Or perhaps the choice of a life to gain true freedom. However, since we know that's not what 'Sypha means.. Thus her name means "Beautiful Mysteries" or "Beautiful Secrets",
or why not "Secrets/Mysteries are Beautiful". This fits just as well with her role, in the Illuminati.

Oneiros is the name of the name of an alternate universe from Clive Barker's Undying governed by Otto Keisinger, one of the major villains of that game. It is not the only alternate dimension as the power to create alternate realities belong to powerful mages as even Bethany creates her own, called Eternal Autumn. Even in Constantine this is a theme of being able to shape alternate realities.
And indeed, what is imagination but creating alternate realities?

Oneiros originates from Greek Mythology where Ὄνειρος means Dream and Ὄνειροι Dreams.
Zeus summons an personification of a baleful dream, an Oneiros and sends it to Agamemnon in Homer's Iliad.

I simply could not just mark it in the timecode as "Dreamlands", I thought Oneiros was a much more fitting name.
