Super Grover’s Box Car Derby at SeaWorld Orlando is the perfect introduction to roller coasters for young riders and families. Originally opened in 2006 as Shamu Express, this Zierer junior coaster was reimagined in 2019 to fit the vibrant world of Sesame Street Land. Themed to Super Grover’s big box car race, this ride features gentle hills, swooping turns, and smooth track that’s ideal for first-time coaster fans. Guests as small as 38 inches can ride with a supervising companion, making it one of the most accessible rides in the park.

Located in Sesame Street Land, Super Grover’s Box Car Derby is part of a fully immersive area themed after the beloved children’s TV show that has educated and entertained families since 1969. Sesame Street Land brings iconic characters like Elmo, Big Bird, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby, Rosita, Bert, Ernie, and Grover to life with themed rides, shows, and interactive experiences.

Clones of the Super Grover’s Box Car Derby ride can also be found at Sesame Place San Diego and previously at SeaWorld San Antonio, though the Orlando version remains the most popular thanks to its detailed theming and position in one of SeaWorld’s busiest family areas.

Other attractions in the land include Elmo’s Choo Choo Train, Big Bird’s Twirl ‘N’ Whirl, Abby’s Flower Tower, Cookie Drop!, Rubber Duckie Water Works, and Slimey’s Slider. There are also daily character meet-and-greets and a real-life recreation of the famous 123 Sesame Street stoop.

In addition to Sesame Street Land, the park features intense roller coasters, including Mako, Manta, Kraken, and Pipeline: The Surf Coaster, as well as family thrill rides such as Penguin Trek and Ice Breaker. Super Grover’s Box Car Derby adds a gentler but still exciting option to the ride lineup, especially for younger visitors looking to join in the coaster fun.

SeaWorld Orlando first opened in 1973 and has since evolved from marine life exhibits into one of Florida’s most thrilling and diverse theme parks. The park features an impressive collection of coasters, including Mako, Kraken, Manta, Pipeline, and Penguin Trek, as well as immersive themed lands such as Sesame Street Land and Sea of Mystery, home to Infinity Falls.
