Here is an additional tutorial explaining some extra things you can do with the DIY Budget Guitar Effects Processor using MIDI input devices.
EDIT:
Another thing to be aware of. Remote desktop makes MIDI devices disappear if the sound is set to play on This computer. Make sure you set sound to play on Remote Computer in Remote Desktop connection options.
