​Marie Curie is a symbol of determination that broke through all prejudices. She hid her textbooks for eight years, working as a governess to fund her sister's education, before reaching Paris to pursue her own dream 🇫🇷. Her partnership with Pierre Curie was a union of minds, leading them to hypothesize that radiation was an intrinsic property of the "atom" — this marked the birth of the term “Radioactivity”, which she coined 🔬. After four years of working like miners, they successfully discovered the elements Polonium and Radium — a light that brought both hope and peril.
​After receiving the Nobel Prize in Physics in thw year1903 and suffering the loss of her husband, she countered the wave of sexism and public accusation. By working even harder, she once again earned the second Nobel Prize in Chemistry in the year 1911. During World War I, she put fundamental research aside and used her discovery to save lives by converting cars into mobile X-ray units, known as the “Petites Curies” 🚑. Throughout her life, she refused to patent the discovery of radium, believing that "Knowledge Should Belong To All Mankind." She was interred in the Panthéon in France — the first woman to receive this honor for her own achievements 🕯️.
