Epic Battle Fantasy 3 (Epic Mode) - FINALE: The Ancient God Akron (Final Boss)

At last, the awakened eldritch abomination Akron bites the dust! This fight is insanely difficult, even by final boss standards! For starters, he has over 700,000 HP, he has two forms, and he summons minions when switching between forms that have new abilities based on another of Akron's abilities - his ability to change elements (indicated by the gem on his submerged form's stomach) with his starting element being random each time you start the fight. If his starting element is Dark, run away and restart the fight.

Like I said, Akron's Rune Claws (his minions in his submerged form) have new abilities in two of Akron's elements. In Fire mode, they can put you in Berserk mode, in Ice mode they have a freezing spell, in Holy mode, the Rune Claws can massively heal and buff the party, and in Dark mode they can use Haunt to debuff your party all the way even after using Natalie's Kyun limit break! In all modes, they can unleash standard flurry attacks and charge up a powerful laser blast capable of one-shotting a single party member (while buffing its stats in the process). Akron's submerged form itself also has a very deadly eye laser attack that can hit random party members 4 times for massive damage and potential berserk status, as well as Dispelling your buffs in Dark mode. Thankfully the all-powerful poison status works against all of Akron's elemental affinities except for Dark. But unlike other boss fights, poison only works for a little while at a time, because when enough damage is dealt to him or both of the Rune Claws are dead, he'll switch forms!

When Akron switches to his raised form, he'll summon an evil worm and an evil tail for minions, use his more powerful attacks, and remove any poison you may have inflicted on his submerged form meaning you'll have to poison him all over again. In this form, Akron has three main attacks: the Multi-Cannon which deals damage multiple times to random party members (more so than the submerged form's eye lasers), the Dark Eyes attack that can cast Doom upon your whole party (which thankfully can be removed with Natalie's Purify spell, and the Dark Ball which takes a turn to charge but has a very good chance of a total party kill on an unbuffed party. The Evil Worm can attack with poison and bomb damage, and as it gets close to death it will vomit blood on you which deals pretty decent damage to your entire party and inflicts poison status. The Evil Tail uses all physical attacks and can potentially inflict instant death upon one of your party members.

As if all of this wasn't bad enough, later on in the fight, Akron can summon regular enemies for extra minions! Every 8th turn Akron can summon Dark Clays (which always show up in the same slots the Evil Worm and Evil Tail are if empty) which are probably the easiest of the three regular enemy minions to deal with though watch out for their flurry attacks and their debuffs, Skull Ghosts (which also show up in the same two slots) which are immune to physical damage, and even Cosmic Monoliths (which show up in the fourth slot where one of the Rune Claws would be) which can potentially destroy your entire party with its first attack if not syphoned or killed immediately!

The whole thing amounts to one giant war of attrition, and will take quite a few tries and a lot of luck to finally take down this monstrosity! But when you do, you get the final medals of the game which allows access to the final secret room in Volcano Peak, where a monster group even more dreaded than Akron and his minions awaits...
