Before diving into specific types of arthropods, let's set up a little road map. There are traditionally five subphyla of Arthropoda. But this has been contested lately. Let's get some background information on how zoologists view this clade today, and outline the subphyla we will examine in detail, and then wrap things up by discussing the only totally extinct subphylum, Trilobitomorpha, or the famous trilobites.
