CIES 2024 Recap Video

As artist-in-residence for the 2024 Comparative and International Education Society Conference, Cortada engaged attendees in the creation of a collaborative message mural that highlighted the power of protest, provided a platform for reflection, and ultimately conveyed the importance of fighting for the future of education. Through this artistic endeavor, participants united their voices in a visual representation of solidarity and determination for more just and inclusive educational futures.

The artist also delivered a keynote address discussing the power of art to engage communities and led multiple walking tours to local historic sites. These conversations at the Miami Circle, Torch of Friendship, and place of Miami’s incorporation centered around indigenous histories, race, immigration, and free speech.
