This is my first attempt at carving an ocarina from wood! It's a piece of pine firewood, not particularly durable but soft and easy to carve. I split the piece in two, hollowed both halves out and carved the soundhole, glued them back together, then drilled the finger holes. It has ten holes, which is definitely the limit of what it can handle, the top notes are already starting to sound very airy. Overall it was surprisingly easy to make and took me around a day and a half.
The song I play is Scarborough Fair, a traditional tune made popular by Simon & Garfunkel. It fits well to ocarinas and shows off almost the full range of this one. I also play the background chords on my guitar.
