The tempo for the exercises is set at 60 bpm with the quarter note as the beat. The tempo can be adjusted by going into settings, clicking playback speed and then choosing the speed that is appropriate for you.
Example:
Normal tempo = 60 bpm
0.5x is half speed = 30 bpm
0.75x is = 45 bpm
2x is twice the speed = 120 bpm
1.5x = 90 bpm
Please let me know which was your favorite in the comments and if you can figure out which of these were inspired by other tunes.
Tips for Sight-Reading:
1. Always count, counting out loud really helps.
2. Don’t fix mistakes, always keep going.
3. Read ahead, don't just focus on the note you are playing look ahead to watch out for interval jumps and tricky rhythms.
4. PAUSE EACH VIDEO PREVIEW SCREEN (example with white background) before the video starts and look over the entire exercise. Is there anything that you need to prepare for such as accidentals, rhythms, ect...)
5.DONT GIVE UP! Slow down the tempo if you need to. If its still difficult work on previous videos that focus on your weaknesses; such as bass notes, syncopations, accidentals ect...
6. Practice sight-reading everyday, consistency is the key.
7. Be Mindful: Make sure you are using good technique and a clear tone when sight reading also try to make each example musical by using dynamics, vibrato when needed, and different timbres.
