Next Generation: Board of Directors Development Program

In 2023, Yakima Chief Hops launched Next Generation Program, a Board of Directors Development Program for the next generation of growers to serve on our company's Board. YCH’s Board of Directors is made up of 11 individuals, with seven directors elected from Yakima Chief Hops’ base of grower-owners, with an additional four independent directors from outside of the company.

As we welcome the transition of leadership on the farms to the next generation within our network of multi-generation family farms, we strive to provide learning opportunities and hands-on experience for these upcoming leaders to govern our company in the years ahead.

The first cohort of the Next Generation Board Program includes:
Erik Sauve, 4th generation grower from SAUVE & SON FARMS, INC.
Erica Lorentz, 4th generation grower from Lakeside Ranches
Austin Gasseling, 5th generation grower from Gasseling Ranches.
Jessica Riel, 4th generation grower from Double 'R' Hop Ranches, Inc.
Ben St. Mary, 4th generation grower from Black Star Ranch
Colton Carpenter, 6th generation grower from Carpenter Ranches
Patrick Smith, grower from Loftus Ranches
Brandon Davidson, 4th generation grower from BC Hop Ranch

The Next Generation Board Development Program is an example of how Yakima Chief Hops, as a 100% grower-owned hop supplier, is committed to creating systems of sustainability for family farms and for our company to thrive for future generations.
