Ghana is set to begin refining one tonne of gold weekly under a landmark agreement signed between the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) and Gold Coast Refinery Limited, with technical support from Rand Refinery. 🇬🇭✨ The deal marks a major shift from exporting raw gold to local value addition, boosting export earnings and keeping refining fees within Ghana’s economy. 🇬🇭💰
At the signing, GoldBod CEO Sammy Gyamfi described the agreement as a “historic turning point” that will strengthen traceability, enhance export value, create jobs, and help position Ghana’s gold for international markets. Refining operations are expected to start from February 1, 2026, and will see about 1,000 kg of gold processed locally each week.
