How to Get the Most out of Your Wide-Angle Lens

One of my favourite types of lenses to shoot landscapes with is my wide-angle lens. You can create dynamic compositions and images with great depth, but there are a few tips I've picked up about using a wide-angle that may help you get the most out of using a wide-angle lens.

A wide-angle lens is an effective tool to capture more dynamic photos that can be enticing and help transport the viewer into a scene.

The temptation, though, is to crank the lens wide open, especially when you first get a wide-angle, but there are a few things to consider, and that's what we cover in this landscape photography tutorial

The first is that fitting more into the frame doesn't necessarily make a better image, particularly if the extra elements you include are distracting.

So it's back to basic compositional principles. First, consider what you include in the frame. Does it clutter the scene? Is it distracting?

Are you enhancing the story or the flow of the scene?
