On 7th October 2023, Eli Sharabi was taken hostage by Hamas from Kibbutz Be’eri on
Israel’s southern border. For the next 491 days, held captive in a tunnel beneath Gaza, he was sustained by the thought that, if only he could survive, he’d be reunited with his family. He made it, and they did not.
