Here's some video footage testing out my new Panasonic DMC-FZ1000 on a walk around Grindstone Creek, Hamilton, Ontario, and comparing it to Panasonic's GH 2 in my backyard.
Pros:
perfect bridge camera between stills and video
photos are sharp, no shutter lag, panorama and time lapse modes are a welcome bonus
4k video is awesome, better than 1080p
zebra stripes for exposure and peaking assist for manual focus work great
zoom range is excellent (no more lugging around 2 lens): wide angle is similar to Lumix 20mm f1.7 lens and stabilization out to 16x is quite reasonable
decent depth of field, depending on distance from subject
colour rendition is quite good
Cons:
no audio out jack
iris control is in stepped increments and will not give smooth exposure control (my workaround when needed is to use a variable neutral density filter)
exposure is not constant from medium to far end of zoom range (slight but noticeable stepped down change in exposure when zooming)
zoom lever on shutter release button doesn't allow smooth zooms
menu system not intuitive (depends what mode you're in)
