What is BURIKKO? Pick Me Girls vs Burikko | Japanese Pop Culture

Recently, I’ve seen some people comparing Burikko to Pick Me girls, so I wanted to give my take as a fan of cute things and cute girls!! In this video, I’ll explain what Burikko really means, why I don’t think they’re as bad as the negative Pick Me image and how they’re actually a completely different character trope… But tbh, some characters can be both Pick Me and Burikko types!!

I focused on Ami from Toradora, Iroha from Oregairu and Sae from Peach Girl in hopes of giving burikko some relatable depth.
