Supposedly written in the 1700s by a White slaveowner from Virginia, The Willie Lynch Letter cunningly describes steps slave masters can implement to psychologically enslave their servants and guarantee productivity and durability among slaves. Much of the advice centers on using the slaves’ superficial differences to pit them against each other and make them distrustful of one another. Distracted by their own in-fighting, the slaves will never rebel against their own enslavement, thereby keeping the institution intact and maintaining the wealth and power of the slaveholding class.

Project overview
A collaborative project between DeWitt Scott and the Moraine Valley Community College Library, "The Daily Reading Room" is a collection of brief video reviews of non-fiction books spanning a number of genres, subjects, and topics. One video will be recorded for each day of the 2022-23 academic school year. Each video will explain the main themes, as well some of the more pertinent and interesting details of the book. Listeners are welcome to comment and contribute to the conversation.
