Balinese House Dedication Ceremony

I hired a videographer to record video for me, so that I could edit and make this video. It’s of a ceremony that is considered a requirement on new buildings before they can be used in Bali.
This is called Melaspas. The priests and spiritual leaders of the local village and friends come to give offerings, feast and perform prayers and rituals in order to cast out any bad and invite the good to come and dwell in the guesthouse and its compound. Bali is a Hindu island and there’s always a constant struggle between the good and evil. The Balinese are some of the most happy and spiritual people I’ve met anywhere in the world.
This has been an interesting addition to my life to work with my Balinese friend daily and help him to manage a guesthouse. We’re both learning a lot, though he’s doing all of the work cleaning and Maintenance work. I’m very thankful for his hard work and dedication and we have had positive reviews from the guests who have stayed there thus far.
