Bunny Mellon was renowned for her absolute privacy. She was well-known for her glitzy pals, including Jackie Kennedy and Hubert de Givenchy, her impeccable sense of taste, and her motto, "Nothing should be noticed." It's ironic that this tastemaker had one of the most exquisite jewelry collections, which included around 150 unique Schlumberger pieces. Only after her passing in 2014 did the public get a preview of the five-day Sotheby's auction and the four-volume catalog used to sell off enormous amounts of jewels, art, furniture, and porcelain. Her most treasured legacy, a horticultural research center on the Mellon family property in Upperville, Virginia, received 218 million dollars in revenues.

Her work with interiors and gardening is what most people remember her for. She was a self-taught horticulturist who wrote popular interior books and redesigned the White House Rose Garden for the Kennedys.
