Flower arranging is an art to managing your table top. So let's start to learn how to make a bouquet of flowers.
Create stunning arrangements of flowers by using a color wheel. Knowing analogous and complimentary colors will help you create well-matched combinations. Examples of complimentary color combinations would be yellow and purple or red and green.
Choose your vase before or after you pick your flowers and make sure the color, shape, and height of the vase complement your flowers.
In most cases, the height of your vase should be half or a third of the height of your flowers.
Little vases are great for when you just have a couple of stems.
Squat-shaped vases with wider, flared tops are good for table top arrangements when you want to be able to see over the bouquet.
Tall vases are good for displaying big flowers, or the large branches of flowering shrubs.
Wash and bleach the vase to kill any bacteria that may have accumulated inside.
After cleaning, fill your vase with clean, room temperature water.
Adding a floral preservative will minimize bacterial growth and make your bouquet last days longer.
Use sharp scissors to cut flowers. As you cut put them immediately into a bucket of cold water.
Strip each flower's lower leaves.
Give your flowers a clean cut before putting them into your arrangement - this will allow them to get more water.
Adding foliage will create a backdrop and grid for your beautiful flowers to fit into.
Add your most dramatic flowers so they are sure to get a prominent place in the bouquet. Distributing them in an irregular pattern gives the flowers a pleasing appearance.
Add smaller flowers to support the larger flowers. Just like the larger flowers, don't bunch them together.
Change the water in your vase every couple of days to keep your bouquet looking beautiful.
