TRIP REPORT | The Turkish Airlines Low-Cost is Perfect | Zurich to Istanbul | ANADOLUJET Boeing 737

Anadolujet Trip Report, the Turkish Airlines low-cost airline, flying from Zurich to Istanbul onboard one of their Boeing 737-800W on a nice autumn afternoon over central and eastern Europe.

An amazing flight from Zurich to Istanbul on the Anadolujet Boeing 737. I think that's the best way to describe today's flight with Anadolujet, Turkish Airlines' low-cost subsidiary.

We departed from Zurich towards the west. Just after takeoff, and when crossing the clouds that were covering Switzerland, we made an almost 180° turn to the left to start our route to Istanbul. Just when we reached our cruise level, all clouds disappeared below us and we enjoyed 20 minutes of some of the best views of the Alps I've ever seen. So clean, without and haze, fog, or clouds. It was truly amazing!

We crossed all Switzerland, from west to east, and then entered Austria. After a small right turn, we set course to Slovenia. Then north of Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, Bulgaria and, finally, Turkey. We landed already in the night after a beautiful approach.

Anadolujet is a low-cost airline but offers something that airlines in Europe don't: pre-ordered meals. And not any pre-ordered meals, but high-quality ones. As part of Turkish Airlines, Anadolujet meals are done by the same catering provider as Turkish Airlines... so I guess now everything makes more sense when you find this level of quality at a low-cost.

There were several options for the meals, all very well presented when booking the ticket and also on "manage my booking". As it was my first flight with Anadolujet I decided to go for something that I was sure I would like: pasta.

The meal was almost perfect: as starter I had eggplant with some kind o vegetable sauce. I promise it was one of the best eggplants I've ever had. It was more than delicious. The pasta was simple but super-tasty as well: tomato sauce (a good one) with some mozzarella over it. Some bread with butter was also provided with the meal. The only part of this meal that was not in line with the rest was the dessert. A very plain piece of cake. Not bad, but nothing special at all.

The point is that even if you don't pre-order anything, there was a snack & drink service. The snack was a good-sized sandwich, a bottle of water and a drink of your choice (coffee, tea or juice). Even though it's a low-cost, there is no pay-per-eat menu on Anadolujet flights. The only bad part of Anadolujet is the reduced legroom, but it's normal: it's a low-cost! The need to fit as many passengers as possible in every plane.
