Adirondack Island camping - 3 Lakes in 5 days

We did a 5-day 4-night canoe, paddleboard, kayak paddle adventure in the Adirondacks.

Day 1: Raquette Lake, Golden Beach Campground Site #201
Day 2: Indian Lake Island Campground site #31
Day 3 & 4: Blue Mountain Lake Island camping site #5

We started planning the trip 10 days before we headed up to this beautiful region in New York and since most of the camping spots on these lakes book up weeks/months beforehand so we had to be all over the place instead of taking in the whole region from 1 camping spot.

Starting off on the 1st night we stayed at Golden Beach Campground on Raquette Lake at spot 201, this is a great spot right off of Route 28 and allowed us to view sunset while we cooked on the fire.

On day 2 we planned on doing the Death Falls Trail across the street but ended up talking to our campsite neighbors for over an hour and then it started to pour down rain so we decided to skip the hike and go straight to getting lunch somewhere. Passing through Blue Mountain Lake we came across Chef Darrell’s Mountain Diner. What a spot we found. A traditional diner with fantastic homemade comfort food and a friendly team. We enjoyed brunch and waited out the heavy rain before heading on our way to Indian Lake

Indian Lake Islands Campground is located on the southern shore of 4,365 acre Indian Lake. All the campsites offer privacy. They are large and well forested. Campsites are accessible by boat only. Campers register at the boat launch adjacent to the Lewey Lake Public Campground off Route 30. The opportunity to camp on an island or along the shore of Indian Lake makes this one of the most popular camping destinations in the Adirondacks. Indian Lake Islands Campground offers a variety of recreational opportunities including: Canoeing and boating, hiking, fishing, and picnicking.
