Installing Schluter's product "Ditra" as an uncoupling membrane between a wood floor and porcelain floor tiles.
Schluter-DITRA provides uncoupling through its open rib structure, which allows for in-plane movement that effectively neutralizes the differential movement stresses between the substrate and the tile, thus eliminating the major cause of cracking and delaminating of the tiled surface.
Mis-spoke at 1:14 in the video, Should have said: Use modified thinset between the Ditra and plywood. Unmodified is used between th Ditra and the tile.
Modified needs to have air to dry properly, or something to absorb the moisture, like the plywood. Un-modified sets up best when it can stay moist and not air dry.
