How do Lever Work?

A simple lever works on the principle of moment of force (torque). It has three parts: Fulcrum (pivot point), Load, and Effort (force).
Brief Experiment:
Take a long ruler or stick and place it on a pencil (acts as the pivot).
Put a weight (Load) on one end.
On the other end, apply Effort by placing small weights (force) at different distances from the pivot.
Observation:
When the force is close to the pivot, you need more weight to lift the load.
As you move the force farther from the pivot, less weight is needed to lift the load.
Conclusion: The farther the effort is from the pivot, the greater its turning effect.
This shows how levers make work easier by increasing force through distance.
