J0HN GIBB0NS studied piano and organ at the
Cincinnati Conservatory and the New England Conservatory
where he graduated with highest honors. In 1967 he won the
Chadwick Medal of the New England Conservatory and the
Erwin Bodky Award for performance of early music. As a
Fulbright Scholar he studied harpsichord with Gustav Leonhardt
in Amsterdam. He has performed with the New York
Pro Musica, New York Consort of Viols, Boston Camerata,
and Boston Symphony Orchestra and has played at the Mo ...
nadnock Music Festival and at Tanglewood. He is harpsichordist
to the Musical Instruments Collection, Museum of
Fine Arts, Boston and teaches at the New England Conservatory.
He has made recordings for Musical Heritage Society,
Cambridge, and Titanic Records.
DANIEL STEPNER received a Doctor of Musical
Arts degree from Yale University, where he studied violin
with Broadus Erle and was concertmaster of the New Haven
Symphony. He has distinguished himself as a violinist of great
versatility, having performed contemporary music with the
Boston Musica Viva; the sonatas of Charles Ives with pianist
John Kirkpatrick; and solo works, chamber works and con ...
certos from the baroque and classic eras on original instruments
with Banchetto Musicale. He has also served as concertmaster
of the Civic Symphony of Boston, with whom he played the
Stravinsky and Brahms concertos. He teaches at the New
England Conservatory, the Longy School and privately.
LAURA JEPPESEN earned a master's degree in
early music from Yale University in 1971. She then received
