In this 1970s news segment for San Antonio’s KMOL-TV (now WOAI-TV), reporter Paul Schaefer talks to Hungarian entertainer Mihaly “Michu” Meszaros. Schaefer asks questions as himself as well as through a ventriloquist puppet. Meszaros was a performer with Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, which had stopped in San Antonio for a series of shows. After the interview, he heads inside the venue to practice his comedic boxing routine. A film and television actor as well as a circus performer, Meszaros is also known for his role in the sitcom ALF. While the character was primarily played by a mechanical puppet, a costumed Meszaros performed full-body shots during the series’ first season.
