After weeks of chasing down a mysterious oil leak on my freshly built big block in my 1979 GMC C35, I finally found the culprit — and it wasn’t where I expected. I installed a set of beautiful Ansen valve covers with a thick cork gasket and was able to stop the oil leak there but it turns out the oil was also sneaking out from the distributor. It was hard to spot without some serious inspecting.
This truck has been sidelined for way too long, but now it’s finally ready to hit the road as my 46-year-old daily driver. In this video, I’ll walk you through how I found the leak, the steps I took to fix it, and how the new valve covers transformed the look under the hood.
