This is a warm-up guide for instrumentalists before playing. In the first part of the video I talk about the importance and types of exercises for musicians, after which we go over how to structure your warm-up. Finally, the main part of the video is an example of a warming-up routine before your daily study on the instrument.
Chapters:

00:00:23 - Why warming up and cooling down
00:00:42 - Three types of exercises
00:01:47 - two phases in warming up
00:02:16 - Important tips
00:02:55 - Phase 1 warm-up
00:06:43 - What follows
Playing a musical instrument has something in common with top sport: we use specific muscles over and over again, while trying to prevent overuse and injuries on the long term. So whether we practise every day or a few times a week, it's important to be conscious of the strain we might put on certain muscles through tension, poor posture, repetitive movement and – especially with the bigger recorders – asymmetric gestures. And just as any sport requires us to warm up and cool down, practising our instrument also requires the same. In our warm-up, we will have to combine stretching and mobility exercises.
Our warm-up consists of two phases:
1. General mobilising and stretching exercises.
2. Warming up on the instrument in a gentle and progressive manner.
This video covers phase 1, while next video will cover phase 2.
