The Spraoi Festival began in 1993 as a small local street performance event in Waterford, but over the years it has grown into one of Ireland’s biggest international street arts festivals. Today, it attracts artists from Europe, Africa, and the Americas, turning the entire city into a giant open-air stage filled with music, theatre, circus acts, and spectacular fireworks. Its name, ‘Spraoi’, means ‘fun’ or ‘play’ in Irish — and that’s exactly what it brings every August!
