Eric Ulis, known for his search for the infamous hijacker D.B. Cooper, came to Vancouver Friday to show his latest research and latest suspect.
The focus of his investigation into the only unsolved hijacking in U.S. history is a man named Vince Petersen.
Petersen died about 20 years ago, but Ulis talked with his family to confirm some of his suspicions.
He also tracked down one of Petersen's old work supervisors.
On Thanksgiving Day in 1971, a man identified as D.B. Cooper hijacked a Northwest Orient 727 in Seattle, getting $200,000 in ransom, a parachute, and asking to be taken to Mexico.
It's believed Cooper jumped out of the plane somewhere over Southwest Washington.
In 1980, a kid found $5,600 of the ransom money along the shore of the Columbia River.
Ulis continues to look for the rest of the money.
But back to Petersen and why he thinks he is D.B. Cooper.
For that, he connects a necktie, some rare metal found on that tie, the research lab that used that metal, Boeing's 727 airplane, and Petersen.
When the hijacked plane landed in Reno, a black necktie was found.
Recently, a paleontologist was allowed to test it and found titanium particles on it.
