Join us on an inspiring journey as we share the true story of Dr. Muhammad Essa Kamboh's migration from his ancestral village of Kaheru, located in Patiala district.
People like Dr Essa were organically rooted in their ancestral village of East Punjab. The bloody partition uprooted more than 2 million people from the land of their forefathers. Theirs grandparents were living peacefully in their native districts since time immemorial. Emigration from home town to distant land in the West was neither choice nor will. They had to leave their villages and well furnished homes, their heads of cattle and their farms under duress and bloody siege by the same race but different religions.
This enforced migration had destroyed many families and had broken thousands of innocent noncombatant people. The carnage reversed the fortunes of the innocent victims; and there were plunderers and looters with collaborations of authorities who became riches from rags; likewise many well off families lost their inheritance along with peace of mind. Harking back on the narration of our oral history is imperative to understand the painful saga of migration. This gory and horrendous partitions inflicted deep psychological wounds on the minds of hapless emigrants forever. Unfortunately, we have not built any museum on partition on our side of the fence.
Watch as we explore the challenges he faced, the triumphs he achieved, and the lessons he learned along the way.
A story of hope, courage, and the human spirit. #migrationstory
