The Subaru WRX VB chassis, available from 2022 onwards, is equipped with the iconic 2.4-liter FA24F turbocharged horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine. However, the original WRX design has aerodynamic limitations, with drag areas and airflow disruption caused by the positioning of the turbo air vents. This downpipe features a smooth, tapered design, replacing the factory high-density catalytic converter. Originally, the stock idle sound of the horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine is subtle and not very noticeable. However, after installing the Mach5 Performance downpipe with the 200-cell catalytic converter, the idle sound becomes much more pronounced and refined, giving the engine a distinct, pleasing tone.

For those seeking a balance between performance and sound, Mach5 Performance also offers a 300-cell per square inch (300 cpsi) downpipe option. This version uses a 5-inch (125 mm) 300-cell high-temperature catalytic brick, enhancing performance while maintaining an ideal balance for exhaust tone.
