Finished changing shims, ended up changing one in intake and one on exhaust.
The whole process, if you have all the tools needed and the shims should take around couple hours. That’s with cleaning the bike and doing math 🤣. First time may take a bit longer since you will be nervous.
Main thing is to make sure bike is in TDC using the markers on the cam shaft gears and looking through the tdc hole on the right bottom side of the engine casing. Do not use the bolt taking the washer off that is in there, older bikes yes but on my 2024 model, you have to buy a locking bolt for the tdc. I made my own and it did the job.
Torquing the 8 bolts on cam shaft holder is very important to do it correctly. Put engine oil on the bolts first and then in a criss cross manner torque first to 5nm and then to 14nm.
Pay extra attention not to drop shims or tools etc in the engine.
Dealers charge around $350 to do check and re shim. I do it because i want to be sure it’s done right and then can only blame myself if it isn’t done right😁.
